How are you settling in - how do you feel about being part of your tutor group?
I am really enjoying having a 'base' as it were of people that I can talk to and work with, and it is a really interesting mix of people that inspire me when they create. It's also really good to have people to say hi to around campus.
What are your first impressions of the environment? What are the differences to your previous learning and experience at A-Level?
I love the modernity and minimalistic vibes of campus, it really inspired me when I walk around it and use it to influence my drawing when I walk around looking for somewhere to sit and draw. The structures and shapes of the buildings are really aesthetically pleasing, and the interiors - particularly the gallery - are nice to walk through. I love how even though compared to other universities it is quite a small campus, it is a whole space that is dedicated to just art, not only a small department like at A-level.
What if anything, do you you need to find more about?
The library, studio opening times, and the general format of the months after we choose our pathways. Also, societies at AUB and BU!
Where do you see yourself currently in terms of art/design/media?
Definitely more inclined towards art, however I am very open to new practices and areas of art. I'm most excited for media as I love film king and never really got a chance to expand on it at A-level.
What are your strengths?
Experimentation, and high volumes of work production.
What are the areas you need to improve on?
Refining and choosing work to take forward after the experimentation process, and initial responding to a brief or area - not taking one idea forward!
What practical steps are you going to take to help do this?
Work through the rotations ahead of me, and really apply a creative open mind set to ensure I am getting the best out of the process.
