SELECTED WORKS - more work created on this day.

Facial experiments - focused on composition and layering, I photocopied one of the original photos from the "daily routine" photoshoot, one in colour and one in black and white. When the colour version was placed onto the colour was still visible, however when the layers were flipped with the B&W onto. the piece had a much darker feel than already expressed which I didn't;t find as desirable.

Extracting the shapes found by studying tone and line within the original photos of me brushing my teeth and removing makeup. The original faces were created by tracing these shapes and then photocopying them and layering them over each other onto acetate.

Tonal Faces

Original faces and skin tone work. When I say 'skin tone', the style here is much more appropriate to that used in cartoons for example, where skin tones can range from. more accurate shades of skin, but also include a lot more unrealistic shades such as rose pink and darker more red shades. It is possibly leaning to more of an aesthetic choice now, on terms of choosing to use these colours, instead of trying to represent the relationship between facial features and skin tone. By separating the two elements here, I have subconsciously put a barrier between these two facial elements both mentally and physically in my work. I think it would be interesting to explore this concept further, perhaps bringing in more political and social contextual aspects such as social constructs (in relation to identity) and racism (linked to skin tone).
