Monochrome and Distortion

The shots I took today on my phone using a basic "mono" black and white filter on the device very incredibly effective. I stuck a set of mirror tiles to a medium sized hand held mirror, and using two pieces of masking tape on each end, distorted the tiles inwardly therefore distorting the image being reflected by them. The most effective shots were taken when the mirror was held on a vertical or horizontal axis, as photos taken when the mirror was at random angles weren't as clear and tended to be too distorted or blend in with the surroundings.
The close up photos of Phillip, although I am pretty sure were taken with a comedic purpose in mind, are actually aesthetically successful in my eyes, due to their increased distortion levels. They almost look like they are mocking the everyday routine of checkin out our faces in the mirror when we brush our teeth, or clean our face and check we haven't missed any spots. Not only this, but also the contorted face stands out as possessing a very surrealist modern art vibe, which interests me visually.
