Studio Day Photography

Following on from some photography I had done previously using the distortion mirror, I decided to experiment with other subjects in the frame of the photo. I used my hand as a quick example of this, and was actually surprised to see that it was quite effective, especially due to the placement of the hand in the hand. The hand almost looks like a character, and therefore represents how self reflection is present in way further than appearance such as facial features. It also takes on the idea of identity without having a human character, subconsciously challenging the point in which we physically recognise or identify other people (as normally this would be through facial features) but also manages to decontextualise the idea enough from a face or person, which is effective in making the viewer think a bit more about its relevance and purpose.
