Photography Shoot Collaboration

Today I was fortunate enough to work with Evie Halworth Galt from Foundation photography to work with her on her photoshoot for her final piece shoot. I worked as a location scout and assistant on the shoot, as I knew the area she had chosen (Water Meadows, Fordingbridge) very well. I worked closely with Evie to ensure the shoot ran smoothly, and helped her to find the best angles for her models in terms of lighting and their location in relation to the surroundings of trees and background interference such as light reflecting from the river. I also had the opportunity to learn more about analogue film cameras, and exchanged my own knowledge with Evie which helped her better her shots by altering the shutter speed in accordance to the film I knew she was using.

I acted as a 'secondary photographer' and documented Evie's shoot throughout the afternoon, taking a few photos of my own as we went on. The photos I took meant Evie could evidence the shoot on her own blog, which she said was hugely beneficial. I really enjoyed the experience of working slightly further away from the action, in terms of a reduced amount of pressure on my behalf because although I am involved in getting the best possible shots, I know at the end of the day that it will not effect my own work. I would really like the opportunity to do something similar to this again, and perhaps elist a helper next time I do a shoot or a complicated/large scale piece of work.
