Working at Home

I decided to spend my time at home today, using the space available to me to transform into a studio space for the day. This is mainly due to the hectic atmosphere in the fine art studio currently, but also due to the lack of distractions and other people around at home allowing me to power through my work and maximise productivity. I had (according to my time plan) initially planned to spend the day creating my final piece, which arguably I still have done, but due to a lot of sketchbook work that came out of the day my thoughts about my final piece are drifting away from a solidified view of what I think it should look like. I have documented these thoughts in my sketchbook throughout the day, as realise the importance of continuous reflection and documentation.
The main difference in my thoughts from the garland I had originally planned to make, is that now I have cut out all of the puzzle pieces, I realise there is a huge contrast in the light levels and colour of each piece, creating a more randomised effect when all the tiles are placed together. This is mainly due to tiles that come from 4 photos I have been working with a lot this project, and have already had printed once. Due to the fact there is a lighter background in the photos and the lighting is generally better than a lot of the other shots I have used. However in the end this has worked to my advantage, as after taking these specific tiles out I am left with an effective randomised pattern on the jigsaw pieces, and have created a miniature version of the 'garland' using only these tiles. The only problem is that there is an odd number of horizontal and vertical tiles, so one of the pieces has to be slightly pulled out in the bottom right, giving a slightly detached feel from the rest of the pieces, however in my opinion it only highlights how not everything was created to fit in perfectly, which highlights the idea of standing out and differing identities I spoke about in my initial project proposal.

Tomorrow I need to spend the day in the library and update my research folder ready for hand in, alongside my bibliography. My time plan also needs to be updated and reflected upon, however once I have completed my sketchbook work this evening except for a final round of whatever I hand in for the final outcome, I will be able to focus on the checklist handed out to us yesterday of the vital documents needed at the handin.
